Campaign
Campaign overview
Selene Wallet is a self-custodial, open source, BCH-only mobile wallet that emphasizes accessiblity to new users without compromising on features that power users expect. We designed Selene Wallet with the goal of allowing anybody to go from zero-to-BCH-user with the absolute minimum friction possible. And once we have a new BCH user onboarded, the wallet can teach them what they need to know along the way!
Our long-term vision for Selene Wallet is to provide the necessary tools that allow BCH to grow into the global reserve currency. First, 10,000,000 daily active users, then the whole world!
Flipstarter Target: 150 BCH
A beautiful, no-BS wallet app
The demand for an uncluttered, user friendly, feature-rich, BCH-only wallet app is at an all time high. As power users with real world experience in onboarding new users to BCH, we set out to design a wallet that would allow anybody to start using BCH as quickly as possible without becoming overwhelmed.

Only have 60 seconds to teach someone about BCH? Point them to Selene Wallet. You’ll be able to send them some BCH the moment they open the app for the first time. They’ll receive it instantly, and be amazed at the incredible speed and low barrier to entry! We aim to deliver a BCH experience that FEELS good, not just for seasoned BCH veterans, but also for people who are experiencing cryptocurrency for the first time!
Meet the Developers
Kallisti is a software developer with over 12 years of professional experience and is a prominent advocate for BCH both online and in real life. Although he’s a relative newcomer to the BCH community, having been around for only about 2 years now, he’s consistently proven his dedication to Bitcoin Cash. He hosts mainnet and chipnet infrastructure including Fulcrum servers and blockchain explorers at bch.ninja, has garnered a respectable following on Twitter, and has appeared as a public representative for BCH on the Digital Cash Network, Sigma Prism, and The Bitcoin Cash Podcast.
It is worth noting for transparency that Kallisti is not fully anonymous. Some notable community members have seen both his face and his professional resume, and Selene Wallet is owned and distributed by Kallisti’s US company named XULU.TECH LLC.
Jeremy is best known as the host of The Bitcoin Cash Podcast, which is indisputably the #1 resource for people to learn about Bitcoin Cash for the first time. He is also a highly experienced professional software developer and has a long-standing track record in the BCH community.

Breakdown of Flipstarter Target
Based only on git commit history, here are some estimates of the time that Kallisti and Jeremy have put into Selene Wallet as of May 2, 2023:
| BCH/hour | Total Weeks | Hours/Day | Avg Days/Week | Avg Hours/Week | Est Hours | Est Pay | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kallisti | 0.4 | 11 | 5 | 4.273 | 21.364 | 235.000 | 94.000 |
| Jeremy | 0.4 | 23 | 5 | 3.045 | 15.227 | 350.227 | 140.091 |
| Total | 585.227 | 234.091 |
Data sourced from: https://gitlab.com/SicutDominus, https://git.xulu.tech/kzKallisti
The 0.4 BCH/hour rate is about $46.80 USD/hour at the current BCH/USD exchange rate of approximately $117 per BCH. This would amount to a developer’s salary of appoximately $93,600 per year, which is at par for experienced software developers in the USA.
This estimate does not include time spent outside of the code editor, including administrative overhead, responding to user feedback, maintaining infrastructure, and marketing.
Because we want our campaign to succeed, we feel that a 234 BCH Flipstarter target may be egregious in the current economic/price climate, so we are limiting the ask to 150 BCH, which will be split evenly between Jeremy and Kallisti.
What exactly is the Flipstarter Target paying for?
The 150 BCH target directly pays for the time that Jeremy and Kallisti have already spent on Selene Wallet. By funding this Flipstarter, the BCH community communicates to us that they value the work that’s been completed so far, and also signals to us that development should continue. We believe that Proof of Work is the best way to demonstrate value and commitment to the community, and hope the community believes the same.
Depending on community feedback, we may run one or more additional Flipstarter campaigns in the future, but we do not anticipate this being a viable or productive source of funding in the long-term.
As the product develops, we intend to shift to a more sustainable business model that does not require Flipstarter contributions. We have several monetization options that we plan on pursuing in the near future as Selene Wallet matures, which may be discussed with interested contributors privately.
The success of this campaign will allow us to continue focused development. However, regardless of this campaign’s success, Selene Wallet can still be downloaded and used today! Selene Wallet is free and open source software, and always will be.
The Future of Selene Wallet
Selene Wallet is currently in its public BETA period. In the short term, we’re focused on finishing some core features such as Coin Control and Biometric Authentication while also addressing user feedback, feature requests, bugs, and overall polish.
Additionally, since much of the user feedback in our BETA period has come from Venezuelan and Argentine users, we are prioritizing Spanish-language translation (with the assistance of the Spanish-speaking BCH community) and proper support for their local currencies. In the future, we will also provide translations and localization options for the rest of the world.
In the medium term, we’re excited for upcoming community-focused features like time-bound statistics on BCH usage, integration with merchant maps, and of course support for your favorite CashTokens NFT collections!
As the product matures, we will also be able to provide Desktop, Web, and Browser Extension versions of Selene Wallet. Thanks to the way we developed the wallet, we can port to Desktop and Web relatively quickly. However, we intend for the browser extension to provide an experience that’s better tailored to that specific format.
In the long term, one of our primary goals is to support the majority of the bleeding-edge BCH features that set us apart from the rest of the crypto market. At a minumum, we aim to include integrations with CashTokens, AnyHedge, Flipstarter, and CashFusion.
Overall, Selene Wallet delivers a highly polished, highly accessible wallet that is delightful to use and share. We will continue to pursue these ideals through careful consideration of user feedback and by maintaining an emphasis on design and usability.
